Psychotherapist
I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Wisconsin. I also have a license for teaching, school counseling, and an administrative director of instruction from the Department of Public Instruction.
As a therapist I enjoy individuals, couples, and families. I have experience with women's issues, depression, anxiety, loss/grief, stress management, and parenting. One of my gifts is working with children.
I have had extensive experience in the school setting as an elementary teacher and elementary/middle school counselor. Team building, groups, and relationship building with adults and students were required of me. I served as a resource for parents and taught parenting classes. I have done adult teaching especially in thearea of stress management using a holistic approach.
My transition out of education started when I went through a divorce and became a single parent. I went back to school for my masters and decided that counseling would be my goal. I wanted to learn about myself and healthy ways to live my life and to continue to be in a helping profession. My colleagues, family, and friends were very instrumental as they told me I was a "natural counselor."
In 1991 I started to do private practice while staying in education full time. I shared an office with three other women on the westside of Madison. My final push out of public education came through the death of a colleague and multiple family deaths. All of these happened in one year. Presently I work as a therapist. One day a week I am in a private school setting as their school counselor.
